Megan Clendenan is a freelance writer and children's book author. Recent nonfiction titles have won the Green Earth Book Award and have been a Children's Book Council Librarian's Favorite. She loves writing about topics that explore the connections between history, society, and the environment. Megan grew up in the prairies of Canada riding horses, climbing trees, and reading every book in the library about horses and detectives. She studied sociology, English, and environmental planning, and has worked for environmental law, women's empowerment, mental health, and urban food security nonprofits. She has traveled to four continents, visiting ancient ruins in Turkey, hiking in Peru, and living and volunteering in Guyana, where she had the chance to help track leatherback sea turtles.
Megan lives near the mountains in Vancouver, BC, with her husband, son, and two incredibly fuzzy orange cats. When she's not writing, you can often find her running through the local forest trails or working in her vegetable garden, where she grows giant Brussels sprouts, tiny potatoes, and plenty of kale.
